It is a bit incorrect to write down 4GB for any 32 bit version of any of the OSes here as it can only see less than 3GB in total available. The fourth GB is a waiste of money in a 32 bit system as it can't be used.

Subject: Windows Memory
In some comments above, people are saying that a 32 bit system can only see less than 3 or 3.5 GB memory, this is not true. There are ways to allow a 32 bit system to see more than 4 gigs, if you only have 4, the system will utilize the missing GB, will show it in system properties, but it will NOT make it available to applications, if you want it to be available to applications, you will need to get a utility from Microsoft, Either way, if how much RAM can be addressed in 32 bits is hard for you i advise you not to go anywhere near any windows system utilities anyway

Subject: Vista Memory
Seems to be a lot of misunderstanding here... 32 bits allows for 4GB of memory address space, not MEMORY. Adding a 512MB video card will require the use of 512MB of that address space. So, even if you have 4GB of physical memory, after adding that video card, you only have 3.5GB of address space remaining. Additionally, every port and most other hardware devices require their own address space as well. All of this takes up part of the 4GB address space, leaving the typical 3-3.5GB of memory that Windows can see and use. This has nothing to do with Windows, it is just a mathematical function of what 32 bits is capable of handling. Great comparison table, thanks...
