Windows vista Interface Languages
As usual, Microsoft needs a flashy name for Multi Lingual support (something most good software packages come with), Not the most complicated thing to do from a programming prospective, but they decided that technology did not allow this in the past (yea right, maybe in the 60s) Windows vista Multilingual User Interface (MUI) is what Microsoft decided to call it (MUI) souns high tech doesen't it ?
So, let us get down to business
36 Languages Microsoft says.
After separating all the text into the language files (to make things simple for you to understand in case you are not an IT professional), Microsoft did not hire enough translators it seems to translate every piece of text displayed by the opperating system, So now there are Localized languages and partially localized languages.
To add languages to your system, You need language files, MUI files that translate the interface or some of the interface (depends on availability) are only available for enterprise and Ultimate edition ! And LIP where only some of the things in the interface are translated. LIP files you can install on any edition of vista (not sure about starter)
Not only that, but there is 1 more catch (or more), For a LIP to work, there is a prerequisite parent language, so if you have a home edition of vista, and a LIP requiers french as parent language, You are outta luck again.
