Out to buy vista ?
What vista offer to get
You probably know that vista comes in 4
main editions
Ultimate
Business
Home Premium Home Basic
This page is not concerned with What
edition of vista, But rather what offering.
To make up your mind of an edition,
Visit this very helpful page
http://www.powerdonkey.net/vista/Home_premium_business.php
Now for what box to get there are 2
variables
1- With or without SP1 (Go without,
Upgrade free after install) 2- OEM or boxed (If you intend to keep
it on 1 PC forever, and can do without MS support, Go OEM)
So your choices are (From most
expensive though cheapest)
New package with SP1 Brand new OLDER
release without SP1
New package with SP1 OEM
Brand new OLDER release without SP1
The best deal is when you get a NON SP1
OEM.
To begin with, there is a new “BOX”
for vista with SP1 integrated
Should you get that ?
Not at the price difference, The older
RTM Build 6000 (The first DVD Microsoft released) can become the new
edition with a simple FREE upgrade file, and I assure you it makes
absolutely no difference.
You can even convert your DVD from the
Build 6000 to the new SP1 release (Reverse integration).
NOTE: Reverse integration is something
Microsoft fully supports, i9nstructions of how to reverse integrate
come originally from the Microsoft website.
So, how much will I save by doing this
(Buying an older NEW DVD)?
With the prices on amazon, Quite
considerably
The Home Premium, Buying the a brand
new DVD of the older release of vista saves $93
$222.99 - $129.99 = $93
Damn, $93 for less than an hour's home
upgrade !
And for the Ultimate
$249.99 - $139.90 = 110.09
As fort OEM, OEM is much cheaper,
